A new Gourock housing development which has brought an area of the town back into community use has been formally unveiled to the public.

The 22-home McPherson development is being constructed on land which was formerly the home of the McPherson Centre.

Bounded by Tower Drive, Jacobs Drive, and McPherson Drive, the collection of semi-detached houses is being created by Globe Homes in partnership with Bowman Rebecchi and Inverclyde designer Mariessa Devlin.

The Telegraph was invited along for an exclusive look inside the showhome for the three-bedroom properties.

Globe Homes owner Theresa Reilly said: "We're building fantastic family homes in a very family-focused part of Gourock.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for us and it's so exciting. It's an amazing area.

“I'm very proud to unveil this development which we see as the culmination of our 20 years in the industry."

Owners are due to start moving into the properties by the end of January, with seven of the plots now reserved.

Phase one of the project involves the first 10 homes, and phase two, due to start in the spring, will see another 12 built.

Each property has a living room, dining kitchen, three bedrooms, master with en suite shower room, family bathroom, and downstairs wc.

Looking to the future, each property also has a charging point for an electric car.

The homes are named after elements of famous Gourockian Captain Duncan McPherson's life.

The development's logo is based on one of the ships that McPherson is believed to have sailed during his career and it can be seen on the water fountain donated to the town by McPherson at Pierhead Gardens in Gourock.

Marco Rebecchi of Bowman Rebecchi says it's fantastic to see the project come to fruition.

Marco said: "We were employed by Dalglen1810 to get planning consent for the site through our architectural arm and secured the consent back in 2021.

“Our Commercial arm then sold the site with planning consent to Globe Homes and then Rebecchi Architectural looked after the design, with City Gate Construction building the homes.

"Work started on site around eight months ago with Bowman Rebecchi’s Estate Agency also handling the sales. It shows the superb value we can bring to our clients through our range of services.

"I was born and bred in this location, so I feel very proud when I look at these homes and know I've designed them.

"These are the ideal homes for this location and they're exactly what the market needs."
