Scottish Government’s is holding a consultation on proposals for a Heat in Buildings Bill with a deadline of 8th March 2024 for responses. 

This consultation proposes new laws which include:

- Setting a minimum energy efficiency standard for homes (to be met before the end of 2028 for homes in the private rented sector and before the end of 2033 for owner-occupied homes)  

- Prohibiting the use of polluting heating systems (e.g. gas boilers) after 2045

- Requiring people and businesses to end their use of polluting heating when a heat network becomes available or following the purchase of a property

The Scottish Government are inviting people to take time to review and complete the consultation before the deadline of 8th March 2024.
